Siðmennt was awarded a half million kronur grant from the Baugur Group Grant Fund. The grants were formally awarded at a festive celebration on August 21st, 2007. This was the first time that Siðmennt received financial support from a private company. Baugur is one of the largest business firms in Iceland. Forty-five different individuals and organizations received grants totally 38.4 million kronur from the Baugur Grant Fund.
Siðmennt plans to use the grant money to strengthen and expand its activities in several areas, primarily offering a full range of secular and Humanist ceremonies conducted by professionally trained celebrants, for all the transitions in the life cycle.
